Professional judging panel chooses 3 finalists
On August 22 the Open International Competition, dedicated to the development of concept and master plan for an eco-district in the City of Kazan (Russia, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan), officially completed its first qualification round. The ceremony was chaired by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

A professional judging panel, representing the government bodies of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as expert communities in the fields of architecture and design, real estate, urban planning, economics, and landscape architecture, has reviewed 47 projects submitted by contestants from 19 countries. The submissions have been placed by 27 Russian and international consortiums and 22 individual contestants. The contestants were assessed based on their portfolio of relevant projects they have carried out earlier, as well as on their essays describing the key ideas they plan to implement in the finals. 

After casting their votes, the judges have settled on 3 finalists:
 
  • Knight Frank Russia (Russia, England) + XTU architects (France) + Oxo Architectes (France) + John Thompson & Partner/JTP (England) + Arkhitekturny Desant (Russia, Republic of Tatarstan) + Terra Scape Architects (Belgium)
  • Buromoscow (Russia) + NL Architects (The Netherlands)+ OKRA landschapsarchitecten (The Netherlands).
  • ASADOV and partners Architectural Studio (Russia) + PROSPECTA (Russia) + HPBS (Russia) + BIOREGIONAl CONSULTING LIMITED (Great Britain) + LDA Design Consulting Limited (Great Britain) + KPMG Limited, Russia / KPMG Russia (Russia).
